Each year, Polk County Humane Society helps hundreds of homeless, sick, abused and neglected animals. Each animal in our care receives and deserves medical attention, food, shelter, care and love. To provide those things for so many lives would be impossible without volunteers.
PCHS Welcomes Volunteers! Here are a few of the areas where we need your help:
Shelter Volunteer Needs: Assist in the daily operations of our shelter. Cleaning kennels and the shelter, dog walking and TLC, cat care and TLC and general phone and office assistance.
PetSmart Adoption Events Volunteer Needs: Assist at one of our Saturday adoption events at PetSmart in Springfield, Missouri. Help load the PCHS van to transport the animals from Bolivar to Springfield, help set-up/take-down tables and crates and walk the dogs during the event.
PetSmart Cat Adoption Area Volunteer Needs: Every 6 weeks, PCHS has the opportunity to place cats at PetSmart for adoption for a 2 week period. Transport cats to PetSmart. Clean cages, feed and water 2-3 days a week. Sit at PetSmart on Saturdays to facilitate adoptions.
Foster Program Volunteer Needs: Foster an animal until it finds its forever home!
Fundraiser Volunteer Needs: Help with a fundraising event. Assist with the obtaining sponsorships, staff the event or many other tasks that depend on the specific type of event.
Grant Writing Volunteer Needs: Research, writer and submit grant applications on behalf of PCHS. (This can qualify for student internship requirements!)
If you are interested in volunteering, complete and submit a volunteer application form. Fill it out and return it to PCHS in person or by email. A PCHS staff member will contact you with more information.
